Ukraine Permission Extension (UPE): Key Information
The Home Office have announced that the Ukraine Permission Extension (UPE) Scheme will open at 9:00am on 4 February 2025. It allows Ukrainian nationals who are currently in the UK to extend their stay for up to 18 months. Applications must be made online.
When to Apply: The 28-Day Rule
You should apply when your current permission has 28 days or less remaining before it expires.
Avoid these mistakes:
- Applying too early: Applications submitted more than 28 days before expiry will be rejected.
- Applying too late: If your permission expires, you’ll lose the right to work, rent, or claim benefits until your application is approved. You may also have to repay any benefits received during this period.
Eligibility
You can apply if you:
- Are already in the UK under one of these schemes:
- Ukraine Sponsorship Scheme (Homes for Ukraine)
- Ukraine Family Scheme
- Ukraine Extension Scheme
- Have been living in the UK since your permission was granted.
- Meet requirements for identity and proof of residence.
What You Will Need
- A UKVI account and access to your eVisa. – Our advisers can support you with setting up a UKVI account. The deadline for applying for an eVisa is the 31st December 2024.
- Proof of identity (passport or expired BRP).
- Information about your accommodation and time spent outside the UK since receiving permission.
For children, additional documents like birth certificates may be required.
