Celebrating Community Through Art and Culture: A Year of Events with PBIC
Over the past year, we have organised three events, bringing our community together through art and culture. From celebrating Polish and Ukrainian heritage to offering creative outlets for healing, these events have fostered unity and connection.
Healing Hearts with Art – March 2024
On Easter Saturday, we hosted Healing Hearts with Art, a day filled with free creative activities for everyone. Families and individuals from across Bedford participated in art workshops, thanks to the support of our partners, including Bedford Creative Arts, Healthwatch Bedford, The Place Theatre, Ukrainian Saturday School, and Polish Saturday School. It was a great day of bringing people together through art.
Polish Heritage Day – July 2024
In July, PBIC continued the tradition of Polish Heritage Day in Bedford. The event began with the Polonaise Dance and included performances by Polish singers and artists. Polish vendors sold goods throughout the day, while Art School Tsymbal organized Polish-themed art activities for attendees. The day ended with a talent show, led by the Polish School in Bedford, celebrating the talents in our community.
Ukrainian Independence Day – August 2024
In August, we hosted Ukrainian Independence Day, offering Ukrainian guests a chance to celebrate their heritage. The event featured performances by Halyna Balaban, Tanya Kudas, and Katy Carr. Free art activities were also available for everyone to enjoy.
Healing Hearts with Art – December 2024
We’re excited to announce the return of Healing Hearts with Art this December.
The event will include:
- Free art activities for children and adults
- Carol singing
- And a special guest appearance from Santa Claus!
Keep an eye out on our website and social media to find out more details!
A Special Thank You
Both Polish Heritage Day and Ukrainian Independence Day, along with the upcoming Healing Hearts with Art, were made possible by the support of the UK Prosperity Fund through Bedford Borough Council. We are grateful for their continued support in helping us create meaningful events for the community.
