Here’s how we can help those going through hardship:
Multilingual Support
Our team of staff and volunteers is multilingual, speaking Polish, Ukrainian, Romanian, Bulgarian, and more. This ensures we can fully understand clients situations and offer culturally sensitive support tailored to your needs.
Welfare Advice and Benefits Support
Our advisers are well-versed in the benefits and support systems available to those living in the United Kingdom. Whether you need help understanding Universal Credit, Council Tax Reduction, Child Benefit, or other entitlements, we can both advise you on your entitlements and guide you through the process to ensure you receive the assistance you’re eligible for
.
Housing Assistance
If you’re facing housing instability or are on the brink of homelessness, our advisers can provide critical support. We assist with contacting the local council, understanding your housing rights, and securing temporary accommodation when necessary.
Active Listening Sessions
At PBIC, active listening is central to everything we do. Whether you’re navigating complex situations, or simply need someone to talk to, our staff are here to listen without judgment.
Referrals to Food Banks
We work with Bedford Food bank, the Ethnic Food Bank, and other local charities to ensure no one goes hungry during challenging times. Through our referral system, we connect individuals and families with essential food supplies, offering a lifeline when it’s needed most. If you meet with one of our advisers to request a food bank voucher, they can also support you with identifying any additional financial support you may be entitled to.
Support for Those Feeling Unsafe at Home
We provide confidential guidance and resources for individuals who feel unsafe in their living environments, helping them understand their options and access the support they need.
