Every Little Bit Helps: How PBIC Assisted with Funding an Ambulance for the Frontlines in Ukraine

A Call for Help from the Frontlines

At PBIC, we recently have had the privilege of contributing to an important cause: raising funds to provide a much-needed ambulance for frontline volunteers in Ukraine.

The journey began with a plea from Sebastian, a dedicated volunteer supporting those injured in combat in Ukraine. Sebastian has been involved in assisting victims of the conflict, transporting injured individuals to hospitals, and ensuring that medical teams reach those in desperate need. Tragically, six of their eight ambulances were lost in the line of duty, leaving them with only two vehicles to carry out their critical mission.

Turning Compassion into Action

PBIC staff stepped in to support the cause by reaching out to the community for donations. Through a GoFundMe campaign, £600 was raised to contribute to purchasing a used ambulance. But the fundraising didn’t stop there: our PBIC receptionist, Robert, a photographer, decided to put his talent to work for the cause.

During Polish Heritage Day, Robert showcased and sold his photographs, raising an incredible £160. His dedication didn’t end with the event—he continued to sell his photos in PBIC’s reception area, generating an additional £50 for the campaign.

We are thrilled to share that, thanks to these collective efforts, the ambulance is now in use, helping to save lives on the front lines.

Sebastian visited PBIC to express his gratitude and share how the donations have been used. In addition to funding the ambulance, £50 of the money raised was donated to children in Yazlovets, where nuns care for and support orphaned children and low-income families. This contribution went towards buying much-needed shoes for the children.

PBIC also contributed by purchasing an oxygen tank for the volunteer team, further equipping them to carry out their life-saving work.
